Microsoft, Apple fix security holes

This Tuesday Microsoft and Apple have provided security updates to fix known bugs in their operating systems and applications, heise.de reports. Microsoft published an update for MS Office and another one for Windows. The Office-Patch is said to fix six critical holes in the Office applications of versions 2000, XP and 2003 as well as in applications of WorksSuite. The Windows-Update affects the OS Windows XP with Service Pack 1, as well as Windows Server 2003. Users are adviced to upload these updates manually or via the Windows update service as soon as possible. Apple also provides a new update (2006-002) for Mac OS X 10.4.5 in Client and Server versions. This update fixes three partly critical security holes in Mac OS X, informs heise.de. Said flaws refer to the hadling of file attachments in Apple's Mail, the processing of documents containing JavaScript-Code and the webbrowser Safari.
