German IT-publisher heise.de reports, that Adobe has issued a security vulnerability warning for Flash, originally developed and distributed by Macromedia. Adobe, famous for its PDF suite Acrobat and graphics tools like Photoshop, acquired Macromedia last year and continues to develop the widely used tools. According to the heise.de article, the recently discovered problem potentially allows attackers to gain control over a PC. The security hole can be abused by simply embedding a manipulated Flash animation inside a website that is called up by a browser with the Flash-plug-in installed. All version prior to 8.0.24.0 are affected, heise writes. An update to version 8.0.24.0 is strongly recommended. Adobe also provides an updated Shockwave version. source: heise.de |
